Wilhelm Clemann, my great grandfather, was born in Copenhagen, Denmark about 1848 and died about 1928.  Wilhelm married Ellen Nora Liebcher on February 18, 1871 in Chicago, Illinois.  Ellen was born in Germany abt 1850 and died on February 18, 1901 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.   Wilhelm and Ellen lost all their belongings the same year they were married in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.  William was a "cooper", a barrel maker by trade.

Together, Wilhelm and Ellen had nine children:

William Clemann, my great uncle, was the son of Wilhelm Clemann and Ellen Nora Liebcher.  He was born in Louisville, KY. on January 3, 1877 and died in Los Angeles, CA. on July 22, 1941.  William married Ethel Harriet Bartlett in September of 1908 in Benzie County, MI..  Ethel born November 22, 1889 in Marshall County, Indiana, died on December 28, 1987 in Los Angeles.

William's father, Wilhelm, was a "cooper" (a barrel maker), and when William was young, he would help his father by using the bellows to keep the fires just right.  William and Ethel were not wealthy by any means, but William told a fellow worker that he was eight times a millionaire.  When asked what he meant, he said that each of his children made him a millionaire.

Edward Clemann and wife, Maud

Edward Clemann was the brother of my grandmother Emily.  It is said that his birth name was Adie but he didn't like it and changed it to Eddie.  As far as any information I have, he and his wife Maud lived in Oshkosh, Wisconsin  all their lives and, they are both buried there.  After Maud's death, abt 1965, Eddie spent the winters in Bradenton, Florida with his sister Emily.  Eddie was born on April 9, 1885 and died in May of 1968.

Above is a picture of Milton Rose with some of his family.  I was told that some are sisters.  Very little is known about Milton Rose.  He was the father of Elberta Caswell and first husband of Emily (Mildred) Clemann.  Milton and  Mildred were divorced sometime around 1917 when Elberta was a very small child.  He later had another son who was adopted by his school teacher, Lillian Harnish, when Milton died of TB at a young age.  This son would be the half brother to Elberta.
